Depok Woman Confides in Failed Honeymoon, Hospitalized Due to Diet-Induced Appendicitis

Viral story of a woman in Depok who experienced appendicitis allegedly due to an extreme diet. The illness required him to be hospitalized for several days.

“Ms. Taylor, I once booked a room for my honeymoon, instead I booked a room at the hospital,” wrote the account @ssshabrin on TikTok, quoted from the permission in question, Thursday (26/10/2023).

Talking to detikcom, Shasa (23) said that the appendicitis he suffered was the result of an extreme diet before getting married. He followed a haphazard diet and didn’t pay attention to calorie intake, sleep patterns, or excessive exercise.

The incident he uploaded on TikTok occurred on October 17 2022, a week after getting married. Originally planning to go on a honeymoon, he instead had to be hospitalized due to severe chills and fever.

“The morning before I started shivering, I felt feverish. Just ‘okay, it’s still okay to go on a honeymoon’ because I thought it was just a normal fever. It turned out that when I was on the road I was shivering but it didn’t continue. So, the severe shivering stopped after that. “After a break of 2-3 hours, I started shivering again. Previously I had not pooped for a week. I felt sick but couldn’t poop,” he said.

Shasa went to the clinic but the health worker only said that the symptoms she felt were just nervous because she wanted to go on her honeymoon. Not satisfied with the doctor’s answer, she and her husband decided to go to the hospital.

When he arrived at the hospital, the doctor who treated him said he was diagnosed with appendicitis or appendicitis. Not long after, Shasa was asked to undergo surgery to restore her health.

“After the operation, I was treated for 2 days. Actually, the doctor could have taken it for 4-5 days, but because I was on my honeymoon, it was a shame for the hotel costs haha. So, I negotiated with the doctor, if I asked for 2 days after I went home, was it safe or not. Then in the morning “Check first, he said, if it’s safe, it’s fine, and it turned out that when I checked, it was safe,” he recalled.

Appendicitis is inflammation of the intestine caused by a blockage. Generally, appendicitis is caused by blockage due to accumulation of hardened stool, enlarged lymphoid follicles, intestinal worms, injury to the stomach and tumors.

Quoted from Cleveland Clinic, the main symptom of appendicitis is pain in the lower abdomen. Some other symptoms are:

• Abdominal pain or tenderness that hurts more when coughing, sneezing, inhaling or moving
• Swollen stomach
• Constipation or diarrhea
• Inability to pass gas or fart
• Loss of appetite Mild fever (below 37.7 degrees Celsius)
• Nausea and vomiting
