Getting to know the Royal Wedding of Brunei, this is the traditional procession undertaken by Prince Mateen
Prince Abdul Mateen from Brunei Darussalam officially married Anisha Rosnah, after carrying out the wedding ceremony today, Thursday (11/1/2024). The day before, Prince Mateen and Anisha underwent the Royal Bride’s Powder ceremony or also known as the Powder Bath.
The procession which took place on Wednesday (10/1/2024) evening was held at the Indera Buana Singgahsana Hall, Nurul Iman Palace, Bandar Seri Begawan. The royal wedding ceremony is a wedding tradition in Brunei that has been inherited from ancestors for centuries.
The Royal Bridal Ceremony was held after the bride and groom had recited the Qur’an. This ceremony aims to pray for the bride and groom, carried out by close family members, especially parents, siblings and older people, in their respective homes.

During this procession the bride and groom are rubbed with traditional scrub powder which is applied all over the body by close family members. This ritual is a symbol of fertility and wealth.
Apart from the Royal Bride’s Powder ceremony, a few days earlier the Opening of the Gendang Jaga-Jaga was also held, which is a traditional Malay-Brunei wedding tradition. The procession was held on Monday (8/1/2024).

The procession was held in the Lapau Ceremonial Hall, featuring royal musicians playing traditional musical instruments such as flutes and labik drums.
Meanwhile, the wedding reception will be held on January 14 2024, followed by a luxurious royal banquet. It is anticipated that this event will attract public attention because it will be attended by important world people, including members of the British royal family.
