Prince Abdul Mateen and Anisha are officially engaged ahead of the Brunei Royal Wedding

The Kingdom of Brunei Darussalam will hold the royal wedding of Prince Abdul Mateen. Ahead of the wedding day, Prince Mateen and his future wife Anisha Rosnah were officially engaged.

The engagement event is part of a series of royal weddings for the Kingdom of Brunei which are planned to be held for 10 days. As quoted from borneobulletin, the event called Sending Royal Signs and Royal Engagement was held at the Nurul Iman Palace, Brunei Darussalam, Tuesday (9/1/2024).

The Royal Engagement marked the official proposal or engagement of Prince Abdul Mateen and Anisha Rosnah. During the ceremony a dedication ceremony was also held.

Prince Mateen was represented by his brother-in-law Prince Abdul Rahim to deliver the gift to Anisha’s family. At the ceremony of giving gifts or in Malay, Menhantar Tanda Diraja, the 32-year-old Prince gave a series of gifts such as traditional Malay clothes, jewelry, headdresses decorated with flowers.

At the ceremony of Sending Royal Signs and Royal Engagements, gifts were brought by the men. The offerings are placed in a bronze or gold tray.

Prince Abdul Mateen also delivered a dowry letter to his future wife’s family. The letter contained his writing about his intention to propose to Anisha.

The gift from Prince Mateen was received by Anisha’s father, Awang Adam, who was represented by Prince Haji Ibnu Basit. After that, the series of engagement and handover ceremonies continued with 17 shots fired outside the Nurul Iman Palace, as a sign that Prince Mateen and Anisha Rosnah were officially engaged.

Previously, ahead of their wedding, Prince Mateen and Anisha had undergone a Koran khatam procession. Khatam Al-Quran or reading the Koran until completion is a tradition in Malay society before marriage. It is hoped that studying the holy books can provide provisions for husbands or wives before starting a household.

Brunei’s royal wedding series will start from January 7 2024 to January 16 2024. Prince Mateen and Anisha’s wedding ceremony will reportedly take place tomorrow, Thursday (11/1/2024). Meanwhile, a reception will be held on January 14 2024, followed by a luxurious royal banquet and attended by important people from the world, including members of the British royal family.

Prince Abdul Mateen is the 10th child of the Sultan of Brunei Hassanal Bolkiah with the sultan’s second ex-wife, Puan Mariam bint Abdul Aziz. The couple divorced in 2003.

Meanwhile, his future wife, Anisha Rosah, is the granddaughter of the Sultan’s Special Advisor, Pehin Dato Isa. He is a fashion entrepreneur Silk Collective and co-owner of tourism company Authentirary.
